Conference Mission Statement:

To inspire and empower young Pakistani American Professionals as they explore career fields of their choice, build community relationships, and cultivate personal & professional connections.

 

Conference Outcomes/ Objectives: 

• Channel the energies of Pakistani American young professionals by introducing them to various career paths, options and outlets.

• Establish the importance of diversifying the Pakistani Americans' presence in different careers and aspects of American society--enhancing public visibility, lobbying, civic engagement, public service, & role of conventional and social media.

• Instill a sense of enthusiasm & confidence in the Pakistani Americans to be proud of their identities and potential to make a difference

• Provide a platform to successful Pakistani Americans to share their stories and inspire young professionals

 

Agenda Outline:

 

11 am to 1 pm: COMMUNITY Connections: Cultural Fair

Welcome & registration for the conference.

Display of Pakistani art, non-profits, food trucks, and dessert carts, and much more.

 

1:20 pm:  INAUGURAL & WELCOME ---MC Zulfia Manely

           

1:45 pm: COMMUNITY Connections: Exploring the Pakistani American Identity and Community Relations.

Before envisioning a future, it is important to look at our roots. Our panelists will be sharing their insights about the Pakistani American identity and the internal, as well as the external, community relations. Build an understanding of why Pakistani Americans are "invisible" in the larger American society and explore the implications of becoming visible as a community. It all starts with you and I!

3:15 pm: PROFESSIONAL Connections: Exploring Careers and Different Pathways of Success

Ever find yourself wondering what life would be like when you work in different fields? This is the first of the Professional Connections panel to scratch that itch. Learn what it is like to be a photojournalist; run for public office; engage in architectural designing; or be a news caster! Networking is a key that can open many locks and doors, so meet some of the most successful individuals from our community, hear their stories, ask them questions, and have a meaningful exchange. And don’t hesitate to ask them for their business cards!

Learn what it is like to use your expertise in the medical field to serve the community, literally fly around the word as a pilot, create beautiful art and animation, and work as a lawyer!
